In-Care Council

We think your views are really important and that we can’t make services (for children and young people in care) the very best that they can be without involving you.  Because of this, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to be involved in a way that suits you.  In our first survey, people told us that events, questionnaires, email and phone calls were the best ways of having a say.  If you have other about how you want to be involved, let us know using our online questionnaire (you will need to be logged in)

How it will work About the In-Care Council  Pool of views: we will find out what are the most important issues for children living in or moving on from care by collecting views in lots of different ways:

  • Children and young people can call us or email us directly about anything they think needs changing.
  • We will find out what issues children and young people are talking about to scoail workers, advocates and other people who work with them.
  • Reading reports about what children and young people think
Top topics: Once we know what the key issues are we will organise fun events or questionnaires to find out more.  To make services the best they can be, we need your ideas about:
  • what is working well already
  • what needs making better
  • how could it be better
Action stations: Once we have decided what we want to change, we can talk to workers who can make those changes or set up a group of young people to make the changes ourselves. Feedback: After every piece of work we do, we will check how much difference the changes have made.  We will send out information to all children and young people in or moving on from care so they know what is happening locally and ask them how good they think the changes are.
